Golden Spike will be having tryouts for the 2010 fall series. We a looking and hoping to add some great talent this year to a core group of experienced players. We will be holding tryouts during the dates below. We would love to have anyone who is interested in traveling to tournaments and having some great experiences. Our hope is that we will have enough people at tryouts so that we can fill out GS's roaster and also have enough players for a second team. All we require is that you have a love for the game, the willingness to learn, and the drive to get better. If you possess these characteristics we would love for you to tryout and be apart of our teams. We will require that when the season begins, that all teammates do all they can to make all practices and tournaments.

What to do now? No need to wait around for a pickup game or a tryout. Get out there now and prepare for the season no matter what team you will be playing for. Keep checking in on the GS page (http://www.ultimateslc.org/GoldenSpike) as there should be more and more activities throughout the week that you can be apart of. We do have an open pick up game going on Tuesday night at 6pm at the north end of the track at East High. Only requirements are the same as above. Hope to see you all soon. If you are new, please introduce your self to everyone but #77 is hoping you will make sure you introduce yourself to him.

Golden Spike Goals

Golden Spike’s Intention

  • Hold each individual player personally accountable
    • Each player will be responsible for their own choices and actions
    • Each player will be responsible for their own improvement of fitness, skill, and understanding of the game
  • All decisions will be for the greater good of the TEAM
    • The TEAM is comprised of personally accountable individuals
    • The strongest TEAM will be accomplished with each team member being their strongest individual team player possible
  • Create an environment during Practice/Tournaments that will have individuals push themselves and their teammates
  • Playing time will not be equal. Playing time will be determined by the needs of the team
  • Every game at a tournament will be thought out
    • Players that play less at the end of a tournament will play more at the beginning
    • During “big” games the playing roster size will shrink
    • Most points will be called lines during a tournament
    • Every individual will understand their role and expected playing time on the team during the entire season
    • Individuals can change their playing time. Playing time will NOT be set: after tryouts, beginning of the season, a tournament, or during a tournament
  • A player will greatly determine their playing time depending on their improvement(fitness, skills, understanding) or the lack of improvement of fitness, skills, understanding
