2011 Golden Spike Schedule

Below you will find a tentative schedule for the 2011 schedule. You will notice that not all tournaments are posted as not all tournament directors have confirmed the dates for their tournaments. Click the GS Calendar link above to look at the dates.
  • April 5th - May 3th -- High Level Pick-Up - East High Track and Field, Alternative is Sunnyside Park
    • There will be Golden Spike High Level Pick-Up on Tuesday nights at a place TBA. Anyone who is playing on trying out for Golden Spike is invited to come and play. The idea of this pick-up to; 1. Get excited about the up coming season 2. For people who have not played with GS before, to feel comfortable playing at a higher level 3. To see how you fit in with the top players
  • May 10th -- Golden Spike Tryout - 6:00pm Sunnyside Park #1
    • Everyone wanting to be on Golden Spike 2011 must plan on being at the tryouts. We will do a difficult workout at the beginning of the tryout to see where peoples conditioning is. We will then do some throwing and catching drills.
  • May 17th -- Golden Spike Tryout - 6:00pm Sunnyside Park#2
    • We will be doing more drills and playing some situational games.

  • May 24th -- High Level Pick-Up - East High Track and Field, Alternative is Sunnyside Park
    • Everyone who had been showing up to high level pick-up previously are still invited to come. No matter if you made the first round of cuts or not, we would love to play with those people who are looking to improve their skills. Again.....if you were coming to high level pick-up before, continue to come!! Also, if you really think the tryout process is over, you are crazy. Just because its not a tryout doesn't mean that you are not being evaluated.

  • June1st - August 4th -- Golden Spike will "break" for the summer.
    • This will be time for people to do all the other activities they love to do other than Ultimate. It will be expected that you will be getting in competitive ultimate shape during this time and you will be coming into the season with the best throws and catches you have ever been able to make. There will be plenty of time during this time to play and practice with your teammates which is STRONGLY recommended. Please UNDERSTAND that playing time will be determined by who will give us the best chance of winning when it comes to the season. I believe that how you treat these 2 months "off" will determine what kind of player and playing time you will receive.
  • June 25th & 26th -- Park City Ski Town Classic
    • This will not be a mandatory tournament but we would like to have the entire team together. We need and want to play as much as possible together. Tournament time cannot be replaced. Strategic talk by captains will be discourage during this tournament. This is going to be a ton of fun as we play and chill together. Of course winning is fun.
  • July 16th & 17th -- GRUB tournament in Boulder, CO>
