Ultimate Frisbee in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Nearby Regions

The Salt Lake City ultimate frisbee winter indoor league will begin in January. This is a co-ed league, and all skill levels are welcome and encouraged. There will be a 10 game regular season, followed by a tournament.

Where: University of Utah indoor football facility on Guardsman Way.
When: Every Sunday night from 6-10pm, starting on January 6th, 2008.
Registration: Cost is $40. Please check back to this announcement, and see this thread for more information about signing up for the winter league. An online signup will available soon.

The women ultimate players in Provo will be hosting a women’s tournament this year on December 1, 2007. Team games will begin at 10:00AM, followed by a clinic, and then some hat games.

Update: The location of this event will be at Saratoma Park in Provo. (400 E. 2400 N.) Cost will be $2 dollars.

The 17th Annual Pearl day Harbor Ultimate Tournament will be held in Logan, UT on December 8, 2007, at 1pm. This tournament is FREE. For more information, please visit the Pearl Day Harbor Tournament website.

Halloween Hat Tourney Pic 2001The annual Salt Lake City Halloween Hat Ultimate Tournament is coming up soon! This an extremely fun, one-day tournament that will be held at the Murray Ice Fields on November 3, 2007. All ability levels are welcome. Costumes are required to play. Everyone come out to this event and have a great time!

Where: Murray Ice Fields, 5201 S. 100 E. (where spring and summer league are played)
Cost: 5$ (contribute to Salt Lake Ultimate Charity Fund)

Description
A three hour Ultimate Frisbee clinic for high school students. There will be multiple stations, run by local club players, where kids will learn basic fundamentals and game-time technique. The last hour players will be split into teams for a scrimmage.

When and Where
Friday, Sept. 28 from 4:00-7:30 p.m.
Murray County Fields, located at 5300 South and approximately 400 East.

What to bring
A light and dark shirt; cleats; water & a snack.

Stations
*There will be three to four stations per round, depending on numbers.
Round 1 4:30-4:55 Throwing/Catching
Round 2 5:00-5:25 Offense: Stack; Dump; Cutting
Round 3 5:30-5:55 Defense: Stalling; Marking; Defending
Games will be played from 6:00-7:00

The University of Utah men's ultimate Frisbee team, known as Zion Curtain, will be holding tryouts for the team this week and next. Players of all experience levels are encouraged to come to the tryouts.

Emily Gentholts, an ultimate player from Bozo (Bozeman, Montanna), died in a car accident this weekend. She was returning home from the Ski Town Classic ultimate tournament that was held in Park City, UT, when apparently an animal in the road caused two cars to collide. Other Bozo team members were injured in the accident, but have since been released from the hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle was a pregnant woman (8 months) who delivered the baby via c-section the day after the accident. The baby is doing well, but the mother remains in critical condition.

The Ultimate Frisbee community of Salt Lake City would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Emily, the entire Bozo team, and to the injured mother's family.

The Big Cottonwood Park Pickup game has been listed on the UltimateSLC calendar and pickup page. This pickup is an excellent game for beginner to intermediate players. It is held every Tuesday night from 7:00PM - 9:00PM at 1300 East and 4300 South. This park is commonly referred to as the "cottonwood complex."

To reach the fields, approach the fields using 1300 East. When you get to 4300 South and see the softball complex, turn west into the parking lot. The fields are located just Southwest of the softball fields.

A new page has been created to obtain easy info on Salt Lake City's ultimate pickup games. It features a custom google map capable of displaying real satellite pictures of the fields. Try clicking on the orange dics to get quick info about each game. Additional pictures of each field will be added to this page in the near future, so check back soon.
